Science Café Presents “The Land”
April 02, 2019 at 07:00 pm until 08:00 pm • A/perture Theatre
The Land (2015) is a short documentary film about the nature of play, risk and hazard set in The Land, a Welsh “adventure” playground. At The Land children climb trees, light fires and use hammers and nails in a play-space rooted in the belief that kids are empowered when they learn to manage risks on their own. Discussion regarding play pedagogy will follow the film.
Science Café is an international movement that brings people together for an evening discussion about science. Scientists make a short presentation about their work and then encourage participants to join the conversation. These events, which are co-sponsored with Kaleideum North, begin at 7:00 p.m. Teachers receive a certificate of attendance for CEU. Tickets will be sold through the theatre.
